The cove Svitla is located under the hill Vela straža. Once upon a time the cove served as a haven to habitants of island Iž who were traveling through Preko to Zadar. The cove was named after the custom of turning on lights, signaling to the neighboring island Iž that somebody is waiting for a return journey. This ,method of connecting Iž to the mainland through the Ugljan island existed until the establishment of ferry and shipping lines.
According to the legend, in the cave above the cove lived the modest and pious hermit Boško, who was ceremoniously buried in the church of St. Lawrence in Lukoran because of his peculiar way of life.
